v2.0
August 2026 — Fully revised to reflect the new server configuration. The "Enable PVP" dropdown we described previously does not exist on the current Startup screen. It has been rewritten around the two methods that take its place.
v1.0
August 2024 — First edition

There is no switch for it on the Startup screen

The 2024 edition of these instructions told you to "choose from the dropdown at Enable PVP on the Startup screen", but that item does not exist on the current Startup screen. You will not find it however hard you look, so please use one of the methods below.
The items that the current Startup screen does have are listed in The settings to fill in first, in the first-time setup guide.

Method 1: Specify it as a launch argument

The Extra Arguments field on the Startup screen of the game panel lets you pass extra arguments at start-up. The example given in the panel's own description is -pve.
  1. Open the Startup screen in the game panel.
  2. Enter the argument in the Extra Arguments field.
  3. Restart the server. It does not take effect until you restart.
The server control buttons at the top of the game panel: Start, Restart and Stop
Once you have entered it, press Restart to apply it
Changing the arguments changes how the server behaves. We recommend taking a backup from the Backups screen in the game panel before you change any settings.

Method 2: Adjust the in-game gameplay settings

The in-game gameplay settings include items such as the damage multiplier used in PvP. Use these when you want to fine-tune things. For the steps, see How to change the server's gameplay settings.
The gameplay settings actually live in WS/Saved/GameplaySettings/GameXishu.json on the server. You can also download the file from the Files screen in the game panel and keep a copy.
