How to Become an Admin on Your Soulmask Server

How to gain admin rights in-game on a Soulmask dedicated server. Once you are an admin, you can use the admin commands and the gameplay settings.

First, check the admin password

Admin Password on the Startup screen of the game panel is blank by default.If you start the server with it left blank, a password unique to that server is generated automatically on the first start-up. The same password is never reused across servers.
  1. Log in to the game panel and select your Soulmask server.
  2. Open the Files screen in the game panel.
  3. Open admin_password.txt in the topmost folder (home).
  4. The string written there is that server's admin password.

The admin password is the key that grants full control of your server. Take care that it does not appear on a stream or in a screen share.
The admin password is also included in plain text in the start-up information line of WS/Saved/Logs/WS.log. When you hand the log to a third party, delete that line before you send it.

Become an admin in-game

  1. Launch Soulmask and join the server in question.
  2. Press the ~ (tilde) key to open the in-game console.
  3. Run the following command: gm key <admin password>
  4. Enter the admin password once more and press [Become the Admin].

The "console" here means the in-game console. It is not the Console screen in the game panel.

Change the admin password

You can also use a string you choose yourself instead of the automatically generated password.
  1. Open the Startup screen in the game panel.
  2. Enter the password you want to use in the Admin Password field.
  3. Restart the server. The new value is not used until you restart.

Once you have entered it, press Restart to apply it
Use this same procedure to set a new password when you want to cut off access for a former admin, or for anyone who has come to know the password.
